How Does It Work?

STEP 1- Check Your Roof Limit:

You will need to ensure that your car can safely support the weight of the roof tent and the contents of your tent. When checking your roof limit, there are two loads to consider: the static and the dynamic load. 

Your vehicle’s static roof load limit is at least five times the dynamic roof load limit quoted by your vehicle’s manufacturer. A dynamic load refers to the maximum weight allowed whilst your vehicle moves. A static load is when your vehicle is stationary. Whenever roof bar or vehicle manufacturers quote a roof load limit, they always refer to the dynamic limit. 

When considering the added weight of people inside the roof tent, you should use the static load limit of your vehicle. You can work this out by multiplying the dynamic load (listed in your vehicle handbook) by 5.
